Total industrial turnover index fell by 21.1% y/y in August, with the annual contraction unchanged from the one reported in July, according to data of the statistics office. Domestic turnover, with a 37.9% share in total turnover, decreased by 29.5% y/y. Non-domestic turnover accounted for 62.1% of the total and contracted by 14.9% y/y. Mining turnover expanded by 32.4% on the year in August, but manufacturing turnover dropped by 23.5%. The breakdown across main industrial groupings shows that although decelerating sharply to 1.4%, annual growth of turnover in non-durable consumer goods remained positive for fourth consecutive month. In addition, turnover in capital goods rose by 6.4% y/y in August, reversing a 24.7% y/y decrease in July. In August, negative y/y growth of turnover was reported in energy (down 99.1%), intermediate goods except energy (down 0.6%) and durable consumer goods (down 23.6%). In Jan-Aug, industrial turnover dropped by 11.1% on the year. |
