By bne IntelliNews June 11, 2012
Macedonias economy ministry has called a new tender to sell a majority state-owned stake in chemical plant Ohis, Vecer daily reported. This is the governments eighth attempt to sell the Skopje-based company. The ministry has offered 1,477,172 state-owned shares, representing a 76.575% stake. The deadline for submitting bids is Aug 16. We remind that none of the four companies that bought tender documentation submitted a bid for Ohis in the previous tender, which expired May 30. Meanwhile, the new tender allows the investor to buy the land plot used by the company. In addition, the new owner will not be obliged to carry out land decontamination. However, the new tender again prohibits layoffs at the company after its privatisation. Ohis has 805 employees and posted a consolidated net loss of MKD 1.66bn (EUR 27mn) last year.
