Macedonia’s industrial production growth turns negative in July

Macedonia's industrial output fell by 2.2% y/y in July, reversing a 4% y/y increase a month earlier, the statistics office said on August 30. 

The negative tendency in July came after the industrial output slowed down in the previous month, following strong growth of 9.2% y/y in May.

Only the utilities sector posted a growth in the seventh month of the year, of a modest 2.1%, compared to 18.7% y/y in the previous month.

The manufacturing sector dropped by 2.6% y/y in July, after growing by 2.4% y/y in the previous month. 

Mining output was 3.4% lower y/y, after rising by 7.5% y/y a month before.

In the first seven months of 2017 industrial output rose by 0.7%.
