LV: Latvia ranks 55th in Global Competitiveness Index.

Latvia was ranked 55th in the Global Competitiveness Index compiled by World Economic Forum. Latvia climbed up from 64th rank in 2011, but is still behind Estonia and Lithuania with 34th and 45th places, respectively. The 2012 index improved the most for Latvia in macro, health and education, efficiency of the goods market and technological readiness. At the same time the index deteriorated in training and innovation. When commenting on the index, EconMin stressed that the goal in the coming three to four years is to up Latvias position to top 40 in the index.
