LT: EU aid to Lithuania at EUR 12.9bn in 2014-2020 period.

In the confirmed EU budget, planned aid for Lithuania amounted to LTL 44.5bn (EUR 12.9bn) in 2014-2020, up by LTL 4bn compared to 2007-2013. Dalia Grybauskaite, the president of the Republic of Lithuania, indicated that given troubles of the EU budget, and overall reduction in the EU budget, the amount of aid is the best result that was possible for Lithuania. In 2014-2020 structural aid will amount to LTL 25bn, more by LTL 1.0bn compared with the 2007-2013 period. Aid to agricultural sector will amount to LTL 17.2bn, with direct payments to farmers growing by 70% y/y to EUR 196 per ha. Ignalina nuclear power plant shut down aid will amount to EUR 450mn, in addition of transferring the unused aid of EUR 300mn from 2007-2013 period to 2014-2020, thus the overall aid for closure of the plant will amount to EUR 750mn.
