Labour Productivity reports healthy rise in Q4/2009. South Korea's labour productivity in the manufacturing sector rose sharply in Q4/2009.

As reported by Asia Pulse, the Ministry of Knowledge Economy has stated that the labour productivity index for the October-December period stood at 133.2 against the 2005 base of 100. This is a gain of 18.4% over 2008 and the highest increase in productivity since the 14.2% y/y gain reported in Q1/2006. The ministry said that South Korea 's industrial sector labour productivity for the whole of 2009 rose 4.1% mainly due to the poor showing in the first two quarters.
