By bne IntelliNews November 30, 2012
Komercijalna Banka Skopje said that it has received the 2012 best bank in Macedonia award of global financial magazine The Banker. This is the seventh time the local lender receives this award, Komercijalna Banka said in a statement on its website. The selection criteria included ROE and strategic positioning, as well as growth of capital, assets and net profit. The pre-tax profit of Komercijalna Banka has dropped by 64.5% on the year to MKD 266.3mn (EUR 4.3mn) in Jan-Sep. The main cause of the decline was a large increase in impairment losses, which surged by 86.5% y/y to MKD 1.29bn in the first nine months of this year. The total assets of the lender stood at MKD 82.81bn at end-June, and the equity amounted to MKD 9.32bn. Komercijalna Banka Skopje is one of the three Macedonian commercial banks classified by the countrys central bank as large as of end-June. The other two are Stopanska Banka Skopje and NLB Tutunska Banka.
