Kia Slovakia plans to keep 2013 output flat y/y.

The Slovak car assembling plant of South Korea's car maker Kia expects its 2013 output to be at the same level as in 2012, when it projects to reach a record high production of 285,000 cars, Pravda daily reported. Despite the abundance of existing orders, the plant near Zilina, in northern Slovakia, is not considering raising further its production, as it is taking into account the tough market environment in most European countries, Kia Motors Slovakia Dusan Dvorak told the daily. "There is a decline of new car sales in most European markets, but our brand is thriving and we managed to boost our market share in Europe," Dvorak said. Kia Motors Slovakia produced over 253,000 cars in the first ten months of 2012, surpassing its overall production for last year. The company's October output jumped by 35% y/y to 30,000 vehicles, marking the biggest monthly volume on record. Kia, together with Germany's Volkswagen and France's PSA Peugeot Citroen, is among the key drivers of Slovakia's economy, powered by exports of cars and electronics.
