Kia Motors Slovakia to install equipment for new models during summer break.

By bne IntelliNews July 26, 2011
Kia Motors Slovakia will install new equipment and prepare production lines for new models during its two-week summer production break, hnonline.sk informed. The company will adapt its production lines for the Kia Venga cars, up until now produced at Hyundais Czech Plant. Hyundai and its affiliate Kia decided to swap the production of Hyundai ix35 and Kia Venga in June 2011, as the Kias plant in Slovakia does not have the capacity to meet the rising demand for Hyunday ix35 SUVs. Kia Motors Slovakia also plans to launch a new brand model in 2012. The company reported a net profit of EUR 42.9mn in 2010 up from EUR 25.9mn in the previous year on the back of strong sales and production. The company employs more than 3,000 people at its Zilina plant. Kia Motors, together with Germany's Volkswagen and France's PSA Peugeot Citroen, which also have production plants in the country, are one of the main drivers of Slovakia's economy.
