Kazakhstans foreign trade with Customs Union surges 42% y/y in Jan-Feb.

Kazakhstans foreign trade with the Customs Union jumped 42% y/y in Jan-Feb, economic development and trade minister Kairat Kelimbetov has said. Kazakhstan increased exports of goods by 36% y/y to USD 11.6bn in the reported period. Fuel and energy products account for 76.2% of exports, metals and wares 12.8%. Imports of goods grew by 22.4% to USD 8bn. According to the minister, food imports expanded significantly, imports of meat went up by 2.1 times while sugar by 13 times. The main imported products are machinery and equipment which made up 48.7% of total imports.
