Kazakhstan to invest USD 406mn in geological exploration this year.

The Kazakh government decided to increase public funds for geological exploration up to KZT 60bn (USD 406mn) per year, deputy minister of industry and new technologies Nurlan Sauranbayev has informed. The authorities want to conduct works to identify prospects of coal in the south, east and west of the country. Kazakhstan is one of the top 10 countries in terms of coal reserves. Kazakh National Geological Exploration Company Kazgeology estimates reserves of essential minerals in the bowels at over USD 9.1bn.
