Kazakhstan will facilitate visa issuance for Iranian businessmen and tourists, the Kazakh ambassador to Iran Nourbakh Rostamov has stated. He also noted that preparation of the required grounds for trade exchanges between the two countries via land, sea and air transportation and implementation of joint projects in economic areas are among the most important factors in expanding mutual cooperation. The ambassador also reminded that the presidents of the countries decided to boost bilateral trade to USD 10bn at the meeting in April 2009. Moreover, the ambassador informed that Iran's Mahan Air was to launch direct Tehran-Almaty flights for the first time with the aim of transporting more than a thousand passengers a week. He also expressed hope that the new flight would create new trade and tourism opportunities for both sides. The flight will be operational as of June 16 and will be scheduled for 3 times a week. Both countries agreed to reduce flight costs by offering cheaper and faster air travel. Presently, passengers travelling from Kazakhstan to Iran need to change flights in Turkey or the UAE.
