Kazakhstan to build third gold refinery.

Kazakhstan plans to start construction of a third gold refinery next year to process and expected increase in volumes of the precious metal. The new facility will be run by Tau-Ken Samruk. The capacity will be 25 tones of bullion per year and could cost up to USD 30mn. To remind you, Kazakhstan has ambitious plans to raise annual gold output to 70 tones or more by 2015. In Jan-Sep, the country produced 27.5 tones of gold, including 12.5 tones of refined gold. Presently, there are 2 gold refineries in Kazakhstan, one operated by Kazzinc (owned by Glencore) and the second owned by Kazakhmys.
