Kazakhstan starts trial of 47 people on terrorism charges.

By bne IntelliNews March 27, 2012
A court in Atyrau started trial of 47 people accused of involvement in terrorists activities. They are suspected of preparing and mounting terrorist attacks in autumn last year. As we earlier reported, there were 2 blasts near Atyrau provincial administration and the Atyrau prosecutor office in late October, terrorist group Jund Al-Khilafa took responsibility for the attacks. Significantly, recently the group also claimed that it was responsible for the attack in France. Although, there is no clear evidence that the scope of the group activity is so wide, we assume that Jund Al-Khilafa intends to organize its network in Kazakhstan in order to destabilize functioning of Northern Distribution Network (a route which is used to withdraw ISAF forces from Afghanistan).
