Kazakhstan raises uranium output by 5% y/y to 4,555 tons in Q1.

Kazakhstan increased uranium production by 5% y/y to 4,666 tons in Q1, state nuclear company Kazatomprom has said. The companys own output rose 4% y/y to 2,656 tons in the reported period. Last year, Kazakhstan increased uranium production by 9% y/y to 19,450 tons, of which 11,079 tons were produced by Kazatomprom. Kazakhstan is the largest uranium producer in the world, accounting for 20% of total worlds production. Kazatomprom also informed that its net profit made up USD 345mn in Q1. Kazatomprom mines uranium on its own and through a series of joint ventures with international companies. Kazakhstan holds 15% of worlds uranium reserves.
