Kazakhstan raises grain harvest by 28% y/y to 20mn tonnes in 2009.

Kazakhstan harvested 20mn tonnes of grain in clean weight this year which is 28% y/y up, the State Stat Agency informed. Grain was planted on 21.9mn hectares, which is more of 1.9mn hectares in comparison to last year. Wheat was planted at 14.7mn hectares. Significantly, high volume of harvested grain sparked problems with exports. Thus, Kazakhstan started to look at the possible deliveries to China and South Asia .
