Kazakhstan plants spring grain on 15.447mn ha as of Jun 5.

Kazakhstan planted grain on 15.447mn ha as of June 5 or 99.7% of the total area to be planted, the Agriculture Ministry has reported. The ministry gave no figures for comparison with the pace of planting last year but according to the past reports, Kazakhstan planted 12.5mn ha as of may 30, 2011. The corn was planted to date on 93,600 ha or 90.4% of the total area to be planted with corn, rice was planted to date on 92,000 ha (103.3% of the total area to be planted with rice) and oilseeds were planted on 1.824 million ha (99.9% of the total area to be planted with oilseeds). At the same time, beet was planted on 19,000 ha or 92.7% of the total area to be planted with beet and cotton was planted on 147,300 ha or 97.2% of the total area to be planted with cotton. As we reported, Kazakhstan harvested a record 27mn tons of grain last year.
