Kazakhstan hopes to reduce number of border crossings with Kyrgyzstan.

Kazakhstan hopes to reduce number of border crossing with Kyrgyzstan from 12 to 5, first Kyrgyz deputy PM Amangeldy Muraliyev has said. He also noted that Kyrgyzstan should act pro-actively and should not allow Kazakhstan to reduce the number of border crossing. Presently, only 4 border crossings between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan are open. Significantly, the Kazakh side did not confirm the information however, given the current instability in Kyrgyzstan it is possible that Kazakhstan wants to decrease number of migrants.
