Kazakhstan harvests 9.768mn tonnes of grain as of Sep 10.

Kazakhstan harvested 8.768mn tonnes of grain as of Sep 10, the Agriculture Ministry has informed. The grain was gathered on 10.8mn ha or 68.9% of the total area to be harvested. The average yield from 1 ha was 0.8 tonnes. As of the same date of previous year, Kazakhstan harvested 11.571mn tonnes of grain on 7.6mn ha (47.2% of the total area to be harvested) with the average yield of 1.52 tonnes from 1ha. As we reported, harvesting began earlier this year in Kazakhstan due to drought which adversely affected the crops. The Ministry expects that Kazakhstan will harvest 12.8mn tonnes of grain this year, compared to record nearly 30mn tonnes last year. The expected average yield is projected to fall to 0.87 tonnes from 1 ha, down from 1.85 tonnes in 2011.
