Kazakhstan harvest 13.3mn tones of grain as of Sep 12.

Kazakhstan harvested 13.3mn metric tones of grain as of Sep 12, on 8.6mn ha or 53.1% of the total area to be harvested, the Agriculture Ministry has said. The average yield stood at 1.54 tones from 1 ha. On the same date of previous year, the country harvested 10.422mn tones on 12.633mn ha with the average yield of 0.83 tones from 1 ha. To remind you, the Agriculture Ministry expects grain harvest to reach 18.9mn tones this year and export potential for 2011-2012 marketing year is projected at the level of 10mn tones. Last year, Kazakhstan harvested 12.2mn tones of grain due to drought. In 2010-2011 marketing year, grain exports amounted to 5.9mn tones.
