Kazakhstan exports 12.1m tonnes grain in 2011-2012.

Kazakhstan exported 12.1m metric tonnes of grain, including wheat flour in grain equivalent, in the 2011-2012 marketing year, between July 1 2011 and June 30 2012, the Agriculture Ministry reported. In 2011 Kazakhstan harvested 29.7m tonnes of grain, up from the 12.2m tonnes in the drought-ridden 2010. In the 2010-2011 marketing year Kazakhstan exported 5.9m tonnes of grain. Moreover the Agriculture Ministry expects Kazakhstans 2012 grain crop to lower to 14mn tonnes by clean weight, lowering its previous forecast from 15-16mn tonnes due to a shortage of rainfall. Therefore, the forecast crop yields will be about half less than Kazakhstan had last year.
