Kazakhstan engages in Nagorny Karabakh conflict.

Kazakhstan is engaging itself in Nagorny Karabakh conflict. Kazakh leader Nursultan Nazarbayev sent a package of proposals aimed at settling the conflict to Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev. The proposals were presented by Kazakh State Secretary and Foreign Minister Kanat Saudabayev who visited Azerbaijan on Feb 15. No details regarding the Kazakh offer were disclosed. However, the head of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry's committee for international information, Roman Vasilenko stated that Kazakhstan supports the existing formats and there is nothing revolutionary. He added that Kazakhstan is acting as an honest broker and impartial mediator. Vasilenko also noted that Kazakhstan looks at the issue of the settling the conflict from the realistic point of view. To remind you, Kazakhstan holds presidency in the OSCE this year and thus it becomes interested in solving regional conflicts. However, the main priority of the presidency is Afghanistan.
