Kazakhstan and Russia to conclude agreement on Imashevskoye field in September.

Kazakhstan and Russia plan to sign an agreement to jointly conduct a geological study and exploration of the Imashevskoye field during the Kazakh-Russian forum for interregional cooperation in Ust-Kamenogorsk on 6-7 September 2010. It is expected that presidents of Kazakhstan and Russia, Nursultan Nazarbayev and Dmitry Medvedev, sign a number of international agreements during a plenary session on September 7. The press-service of the Kazakh Economic Development Ministry stated that both sides are now preparing an agreement regarding field exploration. The Imashevskoye gas condensate field, the second largest oil field in Kazakhstan, is located east northeast of Astrakhan in Russia and southwest of Atyrau in Kazakhstan. Explored gas reserves exceed 100 bn cubic meters with a 15-17% sulfur content.
