Kazakhstan and KPO still in talks over Karachaganak field.

The Kazakh government and Karachaganak Petroleum Operating continue negotiations over issues related to Karachaganak field, PM Karim Masimov has informed. Possibility and conditions for the government to buy a stake in the project dully depend on commercial terms to be finalized during the negotiations. To remind you, Kazakhstan announced its intention t o buy a stake in the projects in 2009. Since then, a pressure on the consortium is mounting. Reportedly, the consortium agreed to sell a 10% stake to the Kazakh government however the terms of the transaction are unknown. Karachaganak is the only large gas project in Kazakhstan in which national oil and gas holding KazMunayGas has no stake.
