Israeli SuperCom wins contract for electronic monitoring of offenders in Bulgaria

Israel-based provider of secure solutions for the e-government, public safety, healthcare and finance sectors SuperCom said it has won a contract with Bulgaria’s government to deploy its electronic solution to track and monitor offenders.

The project aims to help Bulgaria reduce prison overcrowding and recidivism as it will secure home detention of public offenders.

“The comprehensive nationwide programme, set to include all electronic monitoring offender programs within the country, is expected to initially monitor 250 enrollees simultaneously. According to the terms of the award, SuperCom will deploy its PureSecurity electronic monitoring solution, which will include home detention and GPS tracking of offenders,” SuperCom said in a statement.

SuperCom outbid two other candidates for the project and has to deploy the software within 10 months of the signing of the contract.

It is also actively bidding for larger scale electronic monitoring projects in Europe, the company's president and CEO Arie Trabelsi said.
