As reported by Thanh Nien News, the consumer price index rose 9.46% y/y in March. The government also increased electricity prices by an average of 6.8% in March, and in February state-run Vietnam National Petroleum Corp. raised gasoline prices by 3.6%. Prime Minister Nguyen Tan stated that in order to meet the full-year growth forecast, Vietnam needs to target 7% economic growth in Q2/2010. The country also aims to limit its budget deficit at 6% of GDP in 2010. <
