Import prices in Slovenia up 3.8% y/y in June

Import prices in Slovenia increased by 0.8% m/m and 3.8% y/y in June, the country's statistical office announced on July 30.

The increase in annual terms was largely due to an interest in oil and gas prices; prices in the crude petroleum and natural gas category soared by 30.9% compared to June 2017. 

Meanwhile, the largest annual decrease was in prices of computer, electronic and optical products (by 4.9%). 

According to the statistical office's newest data, in June against May, import prices increased the most for electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning (by 11.8%), followed by crude petroleum and natural gas products (by 8.4%). Import prices decreased the most for wearing apparel (by 3.2%).

In monthly terms, import prices were up as prices of products imported from the non-euro area rose by 0.9%, while prices of products supplied from the eurozone increased 0.7%. Meanwhile, in annual terms, import prices increased as prices of products supplied from the euro area and from non-euro area countries went up by 4.6% and 2.9%, respectively.

As regards groups of activities showing the dynamics of prices by end-use, energy prices increased the most (by 6.2%), followed by intermediate goods prices (by 0.8%) and capital goods prices (by 0.1%), while consumer goods prices went down by 0.4%.
