The downward trend in Hungary's mobile market penetration that started in January halted in September, as the number of subscriptions per hundred inhabitants remained unchanged on the month at 117.1%, data from the National Communications Authority (NMHH) showed. After picking up in late 2010, the mobile penetration has been decreasing each month since the beginning of the year, when it stood at 120%. As at end- September there were 11.668mn mobile subscriptions, down by 0.06% m/m and 1.38% y/y. The market share distribution remained unchanged, repeating the August dynamics. Telenor continued to lose subscribers in the month, with its total number of subscriptions decreasing by more than 15,000. At the same time, Vodafone and T-Mobile, whose number of subscribers has changed in both directions since January, reported a marginally more subscribers in September. The market leader, T-Mobile held a share of 44.81% (up by 0.10pps), followed by Telenor with 32.42% (down by 0.14pps) and Vodafone with 22.77% (up 0.04pps). |
