Hungary's gross wage growth slows to 2.5% y/y in April 2012.

Hungary's average monthly gross wage rose by 2.5% y/y to HUF 219,955 (EUR 759.5) in April 2012, the statistics office said. The wage growth eased for the second month in a row from 6.8% in February and 2.7% y/y rise in March. The average earnings in the business sector grew by 6.5% y/y to HUF 234,227 while employees in the public sector, earned 7.3% less compared to April 2011, or HUF 189,731. Hungary's average net wage edged down by 0.2% y/y to HUF 142,221 in April 2012. In terms of nominal value, the best paid sectors continued to be financial and insurance activities (HUF 470,100), information and communication (HUF 420,200) and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (HUF 383,900). The lowest average earnings were registered in the accommodation and food services sector (HUF 139,400) as well as human health and social work activities (HUF 148,000).
