Hungary's foreign tourist arrivals up by 8% y/y in H1.

The number of foreign tourist arrivals increased by 8% to 1.55mn and the number of foreign overnights rose by 6% y/y to 4.146mn in the first six months of the year, the statistics office reported. On the other hand, the number of both domestic tourist arrivals and domestic overnights remained unchanged on the year at 1.677mn and 3.749mn, respectively. In June alone, the foreign overnights rose by 4.6% y/y, while those, made by Hungarians, were down by 2.9% y/y. In January-June, the room occupancy in hotels rose by 3pps y/y to 43% on average, with five and four-star hotels having occupancy rates of 61% and 49%, respectively. The total revenues of accommodation establishments grew by 6% y/y to HUF 107bn (EUR 389.2mn).
