Hungary retail food sales rise 5% in Dec 2011-Sep 2012- Nielsen.

Hungarys retail food sales grew 5% y/y to HUF 1.145trln (EUR 4.06bn) in the period from December 2011 to September 2012, MTI news agency reported, quoting a report by market research company Nielsen. In volume terms, sales remained mostly unchanged, the survey showed. Small grocery stores, spanning over up to 400 square meters, had a 35% market share by sales value for the surveyed period, unchanged y/y. Medium stores, with an area of between 401 square meters and 2,500 square meters, slightly boosted their market share to 35% from 34% a year earlier, while the share of large retail stores edged down to 30% from 31%.
