Hungary is ready to modify the laws that the EC said are violating the EU rules, MTI news agency reported citing PM Victor Orban. The PM told EU lawmakers that problems can be solved quickly and easily. Orban said his government can accept all remarks concerning the independence of the central bank with the exception of the ECs request the central bank governor and the members of the Monetary Council not to take an oath in Parliament. The EC formally launched on January 17 infringement procedures against Hungary on violation of the EU law regarding the independence of the central bank, the retirement age of judges and the independence of the data protection authority.
