Unhedged gold producer Gold Fields announced that it has promoted Kgabo Moabelo to managing executive in South Africa, a release on the companys website informs. Until now, Moabelo was company-wide executive vice-president for people and organisational effectiveness. In February, the firm unbundled its KDC and Beatrix mines in South Africa into a separately listed company, Sibanye Gold. After the transaction, Gold Fields will operate only the South Deep gold mine in the country. South Deep is anticipated to reach full production rate of 700,000 ounces per year by 2016. Gold Fields CEO Nick Holland comments that the unbundling necessitated a review of the management structure for South Africa and the South Deep mine. Moabelo will be in charge of South Deep's business and operational performance, Holland added. In 2010, Moabelo left Cisco Systems to join Gold Fields. His experience includes leadership roles in mining, energy, financial services and information technology. |
