German Schott Solar AG has decided to end production at its Czech plant in July and August cutting 500 jobs, as the company has been facing pricing pressure from manufacturers in Asia, Mlada fronta Dnes daily reported. The decision for the closure of the plant was taken by the German parent company, executive Martin Zalmanek told the daily. Scott AG, a pioneer in the development of solar technology, employs 17,000 worldwide. The company said at late June that it will close its photovoltaic panels manufacturing plant in Albuquerque, US. |
