Russia's Gazprombank is interested in opening a branch in Serbia, Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller said, according to a press release on the government's website. Miller was speaking at the launch of the Banatski Dvor underground natural gas storage, located in northern Serbia. He also said that Gazprom is interested in investing in the construction of gas-fired power plants in Serbia. A 51/49 joint venture company of Gazprom and gas monopoly Srbijagas runs the Banatski Dvor gas storage. The storage is part of the South Stream gas pipeline project, Miller said, adding the pipeline construction will start in 2013 and finish by the end of 2015. The South Stream project is designed jointly by Gazprom and Italy's Eni to bring Russian gas to Europe via Black Sea, bypassing Ukraine.
