Eurostat: Jobless rate in Poland stays at 9.9% in April.

The unemployment rate in Poland was 9.9% in April, vs. 9.9% a month earlier and 7.8% a year earlier. In the entire European Union (EU), it was 9.7%, the same as the previous month, and vs. 8.5% a year ago, Eurostat has announced. In the euro-zone, the unemployment was 10.1% in April vs. 10.0% a month earlier and 9.2% a year ago. Eurostat compiles ,,harmonised" unemployment rates for member states calculating the number of unemployed people aged 15 to 74 and who, are without work, available to start work within the next two weeks and have actively sought employment at some time during the previous four weeks, as percentage of the labour force. According to the Central Statistical Office (GUS), the jobless rate - calculated on the basis of the number of the registered unemployed - was 12.3% in April vs. 12.9% a month earlier and vs. 10.9% a year earlier.
