EU to allocate EUR 83.2mn to Albania under IPA.

The European Union will allocate EUR 83.2mn in financial aid to Albania under the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA), the ministry of European integration said in a statement. Of the total, EUR 20mn will be used for road construction and EUR 26mn for sewerage projects. The EU will allocate EUR 18.2mn to support other infrastructure projects, EUR 3mn to back the country's efforts to reform its judicial system and EUR 2.2mn to assist its EU integration process, EU integration minister Majlinda Bregu said after she signed the agreement with EU ambassador to Tirana Ettore Sequi. The Albanian Parliament will receive EUR 1.5mn to introduce legislation in compliance with EU standards. We note that the country is to receive EUR 192mn under the EU's Multi-Annual Indicative Planning Document for Albania in the period from 2011 to 2012.
