The European Union (EU) has provided a EUR 5mn grant to Montenegro to support water and sanitation projects in five municipalities in the country, the European Investment Bank (EIB) informed on its website. The financing follows an agreement for implementation signed by the EIB and the Montenegrin government on Mar 11 in Luxembourg and Mar 18 in Podgorica. The funds will be used for the construction and upgrade of water and wastewater infrastructure, part of the Montenegro Water and Sanitation Project. The project complies with the EIB's lending priorities for improvement of the environment, strengthening of the infrastructure and activities in support of the candidate and potential candidate countries. |
