EU extends EUR 1mn to Albania to improve metrological services.

The European Union has extended EUR 1mn to Albania to help it improve its metrological and calibration services, Albanian Daily News reported. The money will be used to finance a project aimed at raising public awareness of the importance of metrology and calibration for fair competition and consumer protection. It will also bring relevant Albanian legislation in line with the EU standards. The project will be implemented in co-operation with the German, Czech and Austrian institutes of metrology and calibration. The project will be completed by March 2013.
