The European Commission has cleared the acquisition of wire producer ZDB Dratovna by Czech steel maker Trinecke Zelezarny, the EC said in a statement on its website. Trinecke Zelezarny announced the purchase of ZDB Dratovna from Bonatrans Group Holding in May 2012. Trinecke Zelezarny is active in the production of various steel products, including wire rod and other hot-rolled long steel products, semi-finished products, hot-rolled universal wide steel, seamless tubes and drawn and peeled steel (e.g. cold-drawn wire and peeled steelbars). Trinecke Zelezarny said in May the acquisition of ZDB Dratovna will diversify its product portfolio and will strengthen its position in wire production.
