Equity market capitalisation of Macedonian bourse up by 1.9% m/m in Mar 2011.

The market capitalisation of equities traded on the Macedonian Stock Exchange (MSE) increased by 1.91% m/m to MKD 135.15bn (EUR 2.20bn) at end-March, reversing a 2.15% m/m drop at end-February, according to data published by MSE. The market capitalisation of debt instruments rose by 0.3% m/m to MKD 12.68bn at the end of last month. The equity indices MBI10 and MBID both dropped in March, by 0.27% and 0.81% respectively. The MSE's turnover dropped by 67.34% m/m to MKD 470.7mn in March. However, this was largely due to the MKD 927.5mn public offering of Komercijalna Banka, which took place in February, while there were not public offerings in March. In addition, the block transactions' turnover also decreased m/m in March, by 67.75% to MKD 98.8mn. On the other hand, the turnover of the classical trading rose by 45.93% m/m to MKD 302.6mn in March. Overall, the number of transactions rose by 8.82% m/m to 2,332 last month. In March, foreign investors participated in 25.13% of the total turnover as buyers and in 15.2% of the total turnover as sellers.
