EIB reports EUR 1.5bn lending toward Romania in 2009.

The European Investmnt Bank lent EUR 1.48bn to Romanian customers in 2009, up from EUR 1.1bn one year earlier, according to the Banks report. The largest part of the loans, namely EUR 400mn, went to the local plant developed by Ford automobile producer in Craiova . Other important share of the lending (EUR 351mn) went to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in industry, services, for improving the energy efficiency and environment protection standards, under various programmes developed with local partner lenders. EIBs vice-president Matthias Kollatz Ahnen also stressed that the Bank is ready to co-finance projects developed with the support of funds from the EU budget by government, local administration or private entities.
