EIB lends EUR 325mn to Serbia for infrastructure, energy projects.

The European Investment Bank (EIB) signed three credit agreements worth a total of EUR 325mn at the opening of a new regional representation office in Belgrade, the EIB said in a statement on its website. An EUR 195mn loan will be extended for the construction of a motorway section along transport Corridor X between Nis and Ciflik. The construction of access roads to the new Sava Bridge in the capital Belgrade will get a EUR 90mn loan. The bank will also provide EUR 40mn to power utility Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) for the purchase of digital electronic meters. The EIB is one of the biggest investors in Serbia, having poured in some EUR 3bn for projects in the private and the public sectors.
