EE: Estonian electricity exports account for 64% of domestic consumption in Sep.

According to Elering, electricity connections operator, Estonian total electricity exports account for 64% of total domestic consumption in September. The total domestic consumption stood at 571 GWh, while exports stood at 366 GWh in September. Domestic consumption grew by 4% y/y in September. Domestic electricity generation increased by 41% y/y in September with total of 835 GWh generated. The main reason of production growth was the shut down of Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant in Lithuania, which provided more than 232 GWh of electricity in September 2009. Of the electricity exports, 51% were exported to Latvia, 31% to Lithuania, and 19% to Finland.
