Economy minister Mladjan Dinkic stated that at least 60 foreign companies are exploring investment opportunities in Serbia. He said the of foreign investors has been increasing along with the start of major infrastructure projects in the country, such as the construction of pan-European Corridor 10, and the modernisation of other transport infrastructure. The minister urged the local authorities to assist government's efforts to lure foreign investors, adding that the cabinet plans to draw their attention to the automotive, textile, electronics and other labour intensive sectors. In early 2010, deputy PM Bozidar Djelic said Serbia will seek to attract some USD 3bn in foreign direct investment (FDI) this year. Last year, FDI reached some USD 2bn. |
