Economy grew 1.02% y/y in Q3/2012.

Taiwan's economy grew 1.02% y/y in the third quarter of this year, due to an increase in consumer spending. As reported by Agence France Presse, the exports increased but there was a low export demand for its signature telecommunication products during the period. The economy is likely to grow 2.83% in the fourth quarter of the year, as compared to 4.23% predicted earlier. The economy is projected to grow 1.05% for the whole of this year, as compared to 1.66% forecasted earlier.
