EBRD invests USD 1.5bn in projects in Ukraine in 2009.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development said that it invested a record USD 1.5bn in projects in Ukraine in 2009. The total volume of operations under the EBRD's projects was EUR 4.8bn in 194 projects as of Dec 31, 2009 . 75% of the investments were in the private sector and 25% in the public sector. 12% of the operations were operations involving capital and 88% were operations involving debts. 57% of the projects that the bank signed in 2009 were in the banking sector. The total value of the agreement signed in the banking sector was USD 870mn. The bank provided USD 346mn to corporate clients in such sectors as agro-business, industry, and real estate. It invested approximately USD 137mn in municipal projects in Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, and Kyiv. It also invested USD 118mn in projects in the transport industry. As earlier reported, the EBRD intends to invest EUR 1.1bn in projects in Ukraine in 2010.
