EBRD doubles investments in Romania this year.

The EBRD invested in Romania record EUR 720mn this year, twice as much as in the previous year, Claudia Pendred, director EBRD Office for Romania , announced. This year was a record year for EBRDs activity in the country, Pendred stressed, adding that the Bank has made efforts to support Romania during the world crisis, participating in the support package granted by IMF and EU. In this context, EBRD rose the value of the investments for 2009 and 2010 to EUR 1bn. In 2009, EBRD concluded over 20 contracts in Romania , and 85 per cent of the funding represented projects from the private sector. Pendred recalled the two loans granted to Petrom with a total value of EUR 350mn. Another EUR 80mn loan was granted to Turceni Energy Complex for modernization and bringing an energy unit on coal to the EU standards.
