DIY chain Praktiker says sales in Albania fall 26.3% in Q1 2011.

The net sales of do-it-yourself retailer Praktiker in Albania fell by 26.3% y/y to EUR 0.8mn in the first quarter of 2011, the company said on its website. Praktiker operates one store in Tirana, which was opened in October 2009. We note that local retail market is still highly fragmented and dominated by small retail shops. Among the few foreign chains that have entered Albania are French retailer Mr.Bricolage and Slovenian retail chain operator Mercator.
