Czech vehicle production up 13.9% in H1 2011.

The production of motor vehicles in the Czech Republic rose by 13.9% on the year to 647,024 units in the first half of 2011, CTK newswire reported citing data from the Automotive Industry Association. Passenger cars accounted for 98% of the total. A total of 632,425 cars were produced in the country in January to June, up by 13.6% y/y mainly due to a 30.1% annual growth registered in Hyundais plant in Nosovice. Skoda Auto kept its position as the largest Czech car maker with an output of 356,187 vehicles, up by 24.2% from a year earlier. Lorry production grew by 10.2% to 638 units and bus production increased by 19.6% to 1,469 units through June. The production of motorbikes surged by 157% to 589 units. Sales of motor vehicles on the domestic market climbed by 2.3% and exports increased by 13.6%.
